Working across our award-winning creative practice and our growing plant reuse charity, you'll coordinate a broad range of operational, financial, HR and governance activities, helping ensure both organisations run smoothly and efficiently. You'll coordinate and administer these functions, working closely with the team, trustees and professional advisers where appropriate.

This role would suit someone with broad experience in business administration who enjoys creating well-organised systems, improving the way organisations work and supporting a small, ambitious team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations - Coordinate the administration of Wayward, Wayward Plants and Cultivate Colindale, developing and maintaining the systems, processes, documentation and digital tools that support their effective operation.
  • Finance & Income Administration - Support the organisation's financial administration, including invoicing, payroll, expenses, income tracking, Gift Aid and financial reporting.
  • Human Resources - Coordinate recruitment and support routine HR administration, including contracts, onboarding and staff records.
  • Governance - Act as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, coordinating trustee meetings, governance records, organisational policies and statutory filings in liaison with professional advisers.

Person Specification

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in business, operations or office administration, ideally within a small organisation, charity or creative practice.
  • Is highly organised, dependable and able to manage multiple priorities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Enjoys developing practical systems, improving ways of working and using digital tools to support efficient organisations.
  • Communicates clearly, works collaboratively and is comfortable handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Enjoys being part of a small, creative team where everyone contributes to making ambitious ideas happen.

About Wayward

Wayward is an award-winning creative practice working across landscape architecture, public realm, placemaking and creative engagement.

Wayward Plants is an long-running plant reuse initiative that has, for the last decade, been the Official Reuse Partner of the RHS, redistributing thousands of plants, trees and materials each year from the major flower shows to our network of nearly 2,000 community groups and schools across London. The initiative is now transitioning into an independent charity to expand its impact and develop new models for circular landscape practice.

Cultivate Colindale is a meanwhile space in north London run by Wayward centred on community growing, access to nature and the circular economy. It’s home to the Wayward Plants Reuse Centre.

Together, Wayward, Wayward Plants and Cultivate Colindale are developing new models for creative practice, circular landscape reuse and community participation. This role offers the opportunity to help build the organisational foundations that support that work.
