Who We Are
Who We Are
Heather Ring is Co-Director of Wayward, where she develops green space projects that extend beyond design, curating programmes, convening collaborators and building platforms for creative exchange. She has guided Wayward from its roots in small-scale participatory projects into an ambitious multidisciplinary practice that designs, builds, stewards and activates public spaces. Alongside this, Heather co-founded and leads the pioneering reuse initiative, Wayward Plants, using circular economy principles to expand equitable access to nature. Born in Chicago, Heather is a landscape architect and Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI). She holds a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.
As Co-Director of Wayward, Thomas has shaped the practice for over a decade, spanning design, project management, production and community engagement. Thomas is a multidisciplinary designer, artist and educator whose personal practice and workshops explore storytelling, writing and drawing as ways of connecting people with landscapes and ecologies. Born and raised on a farm in Cornwall, Thomas studied Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art, Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture (BSc), and Architecture at the Royal College of Art (MA). He also teaches interdisciplinary design studios at the Bartlett.
